HANNYA TO MOMIJI  般若匕紅葉

The Hannya mask is a traditional Japanese Noh theater mask that represents a female demon. The mask is typically carved from lightweight wood and painted to resemble a scowling face with sharp teeth and bulging eyes. The Hannya is often depicted as a woman who has become jealous or angry, and has transformed into a demon as a result. The mask is used to portray characters in Noh plays that are consumed by these negative emotions. The intricate design and haunting expression of the Hannya mask has made it a popular symbol of Japanese culture, and it is often seen in art, jewelry, and tattoos.

As a tattooer I have always been intrigued by the design of the Hannya mask, which is also why I personally wear one as a full backpiece in combination with leaves of the Japanese maple tree (momiji).

It has always been one of my favourite subjects to draw and tattoo.

The artwork was created on an iPad Pro using the Apple Pencil and Procreate app, utilising various techniques to imitate the look and feel of watercolour on paper.

NIHON NO RYU 日本の竜

The Japanese dragon, also known as ryū, is a mythical creature revered in Japanese culture as a symbol of power, wisdom, and good fortune. With its serpentine body, koi scales, eagle claws, camel's head, ox ears, and deer horns, the dragon is a captivating fusion of six distinct animals.

This painting is done in a typical style used in Japanese tattooing, most obvious in the traditional background of clouds and gusts of wind.  
The dragons eyes are rendered in such a way that, no matter from what angle, the dragon seems to be looking directly at you. This effect, known as "happonirami" ("all direction gaze"), symbolises the all-seeing eyes with which the dragon protects Buddhism.  
The inspiration for this came after seeing the famous "Cloud Dragon" painting in the Tenryū-ji temple in Kyoto.

Nyan Balloon is a character I personally created back in October 2011 that was originally meant to serve as a backstory to a certain space catt. Ultimately, I ultimately felt this idea should be unique to the person that imagines it.

A young Warlock works tirelessly trying to create the perfect Golem. He gestures wildly in thin air as streaks of clay follow his movements. Once finished, he breathes life into the inanimate figures. 

Vaud was a prototype for what was to be an elite mercenary force of Golems. Created in the image of a samurai, he is highly disciplined and uses the minimum amount of energy required for any task. Even though the client was happy with the results, Vaud was never reproduced, as the Warlock took a liking to him and thought it disrespectful to turn him into a mere product. Instead he served as the Warlock's bodyguard and fellow sunrise watcher.

The Golem with the Pearl earring, Nelev, was modelled with rough features. The Warlock struggled to sculpt feminine forms with the crude tools he was using. Nelev however, pays no mind to this. Every morning she puts on her pearls and strolls around the laboratory like a diva.

The Golem body is made up of six parts: The body, two hands, two feet and the head. A complete set may be exchanged for a full Golem figure.

Mokhin was the first figure to open his eyes and thus become the first ever Golem. His appearance terrified people so the Warlock gave him a feather scarf for a softer appearance. Later Golems would tease him for his scarf, but they never knew what it was like to be the lone Golem in a human world.

Aleph is of the silent kind. His face is unmoving always staring down his counterpart with a mix of sternness and indifference. Because of this, he is worshipped by his surroundings. The truth is however that the Warlock had simply done a very poor job at crafting his emotions. The Warlock is to embarrassed to say anything at this point and he lets the worshippers do their thing.

When asked why he made Yeria, the Warlock would simply proclaim “I like turtles!”

The Warlock’s initial intent was to make himself a house cat to catch the mice which infested his laboratory. Things got out of hand during Shalal’s creation and what was meant to be a kitten looked more like a ferocious tiger. After quickly devouring all the mice, Shalal was released into the wilderness and could be found roaming the surrounding tundra.

List of Kid-Zero's abilities - the ability to control ice in its various forms. Kid-Zero freezes easily with an ice ball. Be careful because he makes magic weapons from frozen water - hammers, daggers, swords; constructs a defense out of cryomantle.
