TIMEPieces artist Carlos James Luna created the cover of 'The Ultimate Guide to Cryptocurrency', a special edition bookazine released on September 6, 2022. Born and raised in Cd. Juarez Chih. Mexico, Carlos later moved to Guadalajara to pursue a degree in Design. Inspired by sci-fi, fantasy, culture and technology, Carlos' work explores cultural diversity and subsequent hybridization as a fertile soil for cultivating positive human emotions, such as kindness and empathy, and sees the ability to migrate whether in reality or in the metaverse as an opportunity to explore visions of utopian worlds. The Toy Boogers Special Edition series is an ongoing Ethereum based NFT airdrop collection for Toy Boogers holders. They are a special way to commemorate big events in the Toy Boogers history. The original CENTURY project is autobiographical. Creating art and experiencing art is the core of my life, and CENTURY is my homage to 20th Century artists. It’s a synthesis of their ideas.

CENTURY 2052 brings the endeavor to the 21st Century. It’s released as 50 unique artworks, one for each year since I was born. The artwork transitions from life to death at 6:44pm EST on October 20th 2052.

This isn't a commercial or public release. It’s a gift to others who have shaped the world of art that I inhabit.

When I was a puppeteer I made a white rabbit named Pink Bunny. In the classroom, she was shy and would whisper in my ear to communicate. When students were rowdy, she would hide until they settled.

Puppeteers have experiences with special puppets where  it has a life of its own. Pink Bunny is like that. 

In 2004 I had a side hustle making websites for artists and during that time I put together a website for Pink Bunny. I restored the website at http://pinkbunny.org.

Besides Pink Bunny, I created two more puppet characters to inhabit this imaginary world. Magic Monkey Bob is magical and chaotic and lives in the moment. Boo-Boo Kitty is a cat who seems to always have things go the wrong way and is nearly always in need of a hug. Pink Bunny's generousity, Magic Monkey Bob's playfulness, and Boo-Boo Kitty's naiveté made for a nice group of characters for adventure.

I'm obsessed with old hp plotters so I made each of these designs in inkscape in svg format so that they can be plotted.  For a short time after launch I'll be making plotted Pink Bunny postcards for folks who get them and reach out to me (@bre) on Twitter. 

Shoutouts to my former students in Seattle Public Schools, to my family who were encouraging, to the shelves.wtf project for inspiration, to the internet archive, and the communities in the drawingbots, bueno, and plottables discords for helping me figure this out.
