ife is eternal, though it may seem that you have lost someone now in the physical. The spirit has simply transcended. Having gone through a period of physical loss, I went on a journey of healing balm. I grew in my understanding that even though you may be broken, life takes its golden thread and binds you back together. 

This is the first piece in the series: " Death Be Not Not Proud: Stages of Grief". It journeys through the stages of brokenness through to victory. 

Death Be Not Proud.
For you think you have won over the stillness of sound.
Yet the heart will beat forevermore in the rhythm of Legacy.
Eternity calls the soul to an  everlasting home.
Through you may believe your cypher a victory gained.
The mind energy still remains.
The force of light, will one day abound and cause the chilling of your bones.

Letting go is harder when you don't want to.

When the ideals still remain in your mind and scream the need for clarity… When you thought that that person's presence in your life was special, meaningful, fitting...The final answer. It felt unbearably difficult but brought immense peace. They had to let go.

So as some celebrate love in their daily lives, others mourn, as we let go of the love we were so close to finally feeling. We release from our minds the hollow expectations and hopes for love. In the end, we had to let go, as love was never enough to keep someone who never planned to stay.


Ayoka is a “tech sis” that only comes out during the weekends. She is the life of the party and there is no club in Lekki that doesn’t know her name. She is known to be a big spender and she wears the blue eye earring for protection.

Zene is just so beautiful and wise, Zene is blind   and she is always puts a smile on everyone’s faces. Zene barely ever lets life get her down or negativity exist longer than it should around her. Zene is like a beautiful ball of light; sharing her light, kindness and just total awesomeness everywhere she goes.

This piece represents and is dedicated to those who have been hurt and taken advantage of because of their soft and kind nature, and as an act of self defence, have constructed walls and hard exteriors to protect their softness. At first glance, they seem indifferent and apathetic, but with patience and understanding, one might be able to see through the cracks in those walls. They actually care. They’re just not sure if it’s worth caring for yet. So until then, they will pretend not to. 

This painting is inspired by the light that shines through dark clouds at stormy moments. When the storm comes, we forget the presence of the sun, yet the sun doesn’t move, it stays still, the clouds come, rain falls and the clouds disappear, this painting is a reminder to everyone that the sun still exists behind the clouds, the storm will break and the light will shine through. It’s a message of hope and It’s a painting I made a while ago when I was going through some tough times, it came to me as inspiration when I observed a cloudy grey day, the wind blew a bit and the clouds gave way to a shiny spotlight of light, it was brief but it was enough to inspire. I make this works using the brown and gold tones with a dash of red. The free umbrella represents how we’re adrift and further buttresses the idea of the storm. I hope it inspires.

This bird is one bird with beautiful colorful feather, best described in W.H Davies poem; "It was the Rainbow gave thee birth, And left thee all her lovely hues; And, as her mother's name was Tears, So runs it in my blood to choose."

The kingfisher is called the halcyon bird, and the story behind it is quite interesting. 

The word halcyon was used to associate with the kingfisher in the legend. The legend narrates the story of "Alcyone, the daughter of the God of wind, and Ceyix, the son of the morning star. Upon getting married, they committed the mistake of pronouncing themselves as Zeus and Hera, which angered Zeus, leading him to punish the two resulting in Alcyone's death by drowning in the sea.  However, the other Gods showed mercy upon them and let them be reincarnated as kingfishers. Thereafter, she came to be known as Halcyon. It is believed that Halcyone later laid her eggs on a floating nest in the sea while her father, the God of winds, kept the sea winds in check to help his daughter."

As the priestess of Oshun, goddess of divinity, fertility, beauty, and love, Osunyemi not only guides the devotees of the goddess, she also protects her beautiful sacred groove. Assisting her with this task is the great ancestral spirit, the Egungun
