This is the oldest song on our upcoming album "why can’t we just pretend?"

We wrote it exactly three years ago during one of the sessions for our "was it not" EP. 

We started writing it in a way we never had before - in the room, no beat.  Sam sang a melody as Jeremy snapped his fingers softly. And then we just had fun.

"Trippin out" felt too weird for the EP. Its hard to justify a strange intense record without a catchy chorus on a five song project in the streaming era. Through the years our most experimental songs have often seen the fewest streams. So we added it to the pile of oddball MH outtakes and moved on.

The following year as we put together our fourth album in the middle of a global pandemic we found ourselves compiling a list of song contenders and stumbled back onto "Trippin Out". It was still perhaps the strangest thing we’d ever made. And together we decided that no matter what anybody else said, this song needed to be on our album. 

We are so grateful to platforms like Sound for building a music experience where peculiar curiosities can flourish. We hope you enjoy this ear candy as much as we do - thank u, as always, for listening.

my 1st collab with reo and the 1st song ever minted on top of a blocktone. i couldnt have imagined something like this in my time but here we are. 

Gino, Stolar and Reo hit me up right around art basel with the idea to have a writing camp in miami where we could write fire songs to blocktones beats. i wanted to make sure that whatever we did, the music was right and we were pushing web3 forward. 

we had so much fun on this one. first, the beat was epic, and getting to make something right off a blocktone that reo owned - that we could do whatever we wanted with - was one of those moments where i really felt the magic of web3. 

the studio in miami was iconic also so the whole thing was inspiring as fxck. reo bodied the track of course. this is def one of my favorite collabs ive ever done. its a blessing to get to work with amazing people and live this life everyday. 


Who are Beachcrimes? We’re a duo from LA and we spent the last year making songs in hotel rooms around the world. Beachcrimes is the soundtrack to that adventure.
 
We made a lot of songs, and we’re excited to share them. All of them. This year we’re releasing 24 songs in 48 weeks. If we’re being real, it’s actually two albums – there’s AM and there’s PM. AM is the lite stuff, PM is the nite stuff. Think of it like the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics, but for dance music.

"Summer" is our 9th release this year, paying homage to the dance music legend Calvin Harris and his hit song that has soundtracked our summers for a decade. We thought it needed a true PM version. Deep melodic techno? Don’t mind if we do.

Next single will be out 2 weeks from today, and the following single 2 weeks after that.
