Art Blocks Weekend 2023 in Marfa, TX was such a blast! 

I took these photos that weekend with a cheap stereoscopic film camera loaded with Ilford HP5 film stock. I edited them in photoshop to add movement and transparency so that I could overlay them over onchain generative gradients similar to those featured in "Marfa: Middle of Somewhere". Enjoy!

"Marfa: Middle of Somewhere" is a collaborative exploration by siblings Brett Sylvia and r4v3n, capturing the duality of Marfa's identity.

Brett's black and white photographs present Marfa as it stands on the surface—an unadorned, quiet town, beautifully analog in its essence. His snapshots from Art Blocks weekend 2022 provide a tangible sense of place, highlighting the raw, authentic moments that define Marfa's physical presence.

Yet beneath the surface, Marfa pulses with a vibrant undercurrent of creativity. r4v3n's on-chain generative art code seeks to encapsulate this burgeoning movement. Without overpowering Brett's images, the digital touches infuse each scene with a sense of the town's evolving artistic spirit—a nod to the invisible but palpable energy and the digital art revolution that's been taking root.

The final compositions will be generated at mint time using the randomness of the blockchain.

Marfa: Middle of Somewhere #0

“Friend or foe, we may never know”

When I was a kid I was obsessed with E.T. ... I think it was the prospect of what is out there... the unknown breaking into our world...

“Shields” is a long-form generative art project, inspired the mystery and wonder of extraterrestrial life. Using generative algorithms like circle packing and collision checks, “Shields” generates compositions that explore the unknown and the infinite possibilities of the universe. The outputs invite contemplation on humanity's place in the cosmos and the possibilities of intelligent life beyond Earth.

“Shields” also draws artistic inspiration from early 20th century sci-fi magazines such as “Amazing Stories”, short stories like “A Colour Out of Space” by Lovecraft and retro scientific schematics. 

This long form series was created out of one of my previous 1/1 works titled “Shields Up” released in January 2022.

Recommended to plot on 9"x12" smooth paper using 0.3mm gel pens, however, feel free to experiment!

I entered the NFT space in January 2021, and the friendships and support I've received during my time here means everything to me.

It's been one amazing journey, to celebrate this, I'm launching this open edition.

"Chips That Rule The World" is a collection of digital abstract paintings that explores the relationship between humans and machines. The works highlight the integral role that these tiny semiconductor components play in our everyday lives.  

The microchip robots represent humans and how we become more machine-like as we apply technology to our everyday lives. The painting highlights the awareness of the dependence of our daily lives on these microchips and how the current global shortage affects not only the technology industry but also every other aspect of our lives. It's a reminder of the fragility of our global systems.  

"Chip Wars" by Chris Miller is a thought-provoking exploration of the global chip shortage and its impact on modern society. As Miller writes in his book: "The chip is the beating heart of our digital world, the engine that drives everything from smartphones to self-driving cars."  

This artwork brings that statement to life, as the microchips become not just the foundation for the paintings, but also a symbol of the interconnectedness of technology and humanity.

How many moments make up a life? Some pass by without much thought while others last forever. They provoke emotions within us similar to frequencies on a wavelength. Moments is a journey into the simplicity yet profound complexity that a moment brings to our lives. Inspired by abstract expressionist oil paintings, each Moment is generated and cemented forever on the blockchain. These are the only moments we have. Never let them go.

This is an edition of 10 to mark change and transition into the next season. As a photographer, I take inspiration from my surroundings, always. I choose to see the beauty in all things, especially changes.

The sunnies are a collection of 9,141 randomly generated NFTs built from 215+ unique traits. Some sunnies are rarer than others, but they all shine equally bright.

*Color Streams* is a return to my origins both personally and creatively. Simple gradients across color fields with the generative paint texture I love so much. These outputs remind me of simpler times and give me hope for our collective future.

"Open It" represents the door that opened for me, exactly one year ago, when I minted my first NFT. In the last 365 days, I've seen my life as an artist completely change because of NFTs, and I wanted to create an edition to celebrate that.

"I walk this earth all by myself" - An edition piece by Max Cremer

This edition piece has a great meaning for me. It is related to a 30 day trip through California. After having more lows than highs in my life last year, I spontaneously decided to go to California for a whole month. To get distance from situations in my life that have burdened me. In search of my happiness I took the best photos I have ever taken. After doing good for my mental health, I decided to quit my job as a banker and live and work full time as an artist. The 30 days were creatively and artistically valuable for me because for the first time I totally connected with myself and my work. So valuable for me that I will make a photo book out of it. This will be published for my 30th birthday on June 11. It is called "first time in america" and "I walk this earth all by myself" will be part of it.
