The first editioned piece in the Lux Noctis series. This project depicts landscapes unbound by time and space, influenced by ideas of planetary exploration, chiaroscuro painting, and science fiction. 

We are overwhelmed everyday by beautiful images of the familiar. I imagine these scenes transformed into undiscovered landscapes which renew our perceptions of our world. Lux Noctis is an acclaimed series of photographs held in the permanent collections of The Guggenheim, the Met Museum, and the MoMA, and has been published in Time Magazine, National Geographic Magazine, and Wired.

Dark Matter is a 12 image series inspired by particle physics. Combining photography and sculpture, the series is a fictional imagining of how dark matter particles interact with regular matter through gravity as seen from a bulk in which both are visible.

To create this series, iron filings were exposed to an arrangement of ceramic magnets and coerced into unique shapes. The sculptures were then captured in a studio using a high resolution medium format camera system.

Find yourself. The human experience is an infinite, cyclic and self-referencing structure.

Technical description:
a 12 second mp4 loop of 1080x1080pixels with audio. Drawings done in Photoshop, composition and animation in After Effects. Audio consists of layered field recordings.

Ever wondered what it's like to sit on top of a 7m wave?

Come and sit, let me describe it to you...

It's dark, the atmosphere is full of droplets, blown away by the winds... the air is almost liquid and becomes hard to breath. everything is moving around you, as the wave arrives. The ocean itself is sucked away from the reef. 

Try to picture a massive, dark mountain of water, coming at you at a constant pace. And then it gets bigger, and bigger, and bigger... until it breaks. Like a crazy waterfall, tons of water suddenly drop.

And then, there's the sound. 

Have you ever been outside during a thunderstorm? Feeling the thunder in your chest, almost as a second heart? Being torn apart between fascination and fear? Try to picture that feeling, when lightnings strike way too close...

This is the moment you are looking at right now, something that could so easily kill you, that you've never felt so alive before.

As for the title, this is what "Teahupo'o" means in Tahitian.
