Optimistic nihilism embraces the idea that life's inherent meaninglessness is, in fact, positive. The conflict between intrinsic meaninglessness and our search for meaning is both absurd and liberating. We are free to create our own meaning yet ultimately, there is none. By acknowledging both the futility and the opportunity, we can find joy.

These images have no specific meaning yet often they seem purposed. Each output evokes an emotional tone, such as calm, erratic, troubled, bold, mysterious or cheerful. We are frequently reminded of something or can identify shapes like birds, houses or spaceships. Our innate tendency to find patterns and meaning is evident.

The algorithm uses geometry and rules but has been given as much freedom as possible to create varied compositions which contain both chaos and order. The compositions are constructed using node layouts, which are connected to form shapes. Connection is a recurrent theme in our pursuit of meaning - manifested in pattern formation, our relationships and the interconnectedness of the universe. The shapes are duplicated and modified through rotation, mirroring, and scaling to build up structure and chaotic form. If an output appears too sparse, an extra stage of manipulation is applied. Keypresses reveal the components, allowing viewers to observe the underlying mathematical structure of the composition. How does this insight influence our perception of meaning?

The meaning communicated by each piece is subjective, shaped by the viewer's own experiences interacting with the work. The artist aspires to connect with her audience by discovering the meanings they derive from the outputs we have yet to encounter.

Is there a life force within art? Can we converse with creative energy? Artists throughout history have posed such questions. When I start creating new generative artwork, I often focus on discovering what’s new that I might unearth within the exploration of a simple algorithm. When the visual outputs start to move me, I love the idea that perhaps I’ve discovered some sort of personality hidden within the confines of the code, waiting for the most unlikely parameter to unlock its emergent beauty. Within that creative journey, I have a hidden agenda. I hope to commune with the voices hiding inside the code. 

*Speak To Me* experiments with layering and interrupting repetitions of basic geometric shapes, exploring their interplay and movement when placed in relation to one another. Drawing loose inspiration from historic art movements such as Suprematism and Constructivism, I’m seeking to investigate the potential of these simple forms to create dynamic and complex visual arrangements. The code generates compositions that are both structured and organic, imparting a movement and energy to the shapes, so they seem to grow and flow like living organisms. Some shapes speak boldly, with clear, directional vision. Some embrace the space between. Within this collection, the differences in those voices are celebrated with intention. 

One night I dreamed of my code in progress, which sometimes happens when I’m immersed in a project. I awoke in the middle of the night with a specific phrase running through my head, got up to groggily scribble it onto some paper, then fell back to sleep. In the morning, I woke up to see the words “Speak To Me”, and I realized that I now had the name of my collection, imparted in a dream.

Throughout the creation of *Speak To Me*, I found myself wondering if there might be a secret life of shapes. Reflecting on the creative process, I firmly believe that there is a dynamic energy inherent in artistic creation that can be considered a life force. As an artist, I view my role as a conduit and facilitator for this energy to manifest in the physical realm. From this perspective, in the case of generative art, I open up the role of creator to share with both the generative randomness of the algorithm and the creative force that inspires its creation. By embracing this philosophy of artistic creation, I’m hoping to both experience and share a more profound and transformative creative journey. I hope this artwork speaks to you as it has to me.

Hey y'all, DLG. here 👋 

(You can call me Dave though, we're homies like that).

I started playing guitar when I was 6. I played classical guitar, with nylon strings. I loved the warmth of the instrument, how I could feel each note resonate in the wood grain against my chest. I spent many years taking lessons and playing in classical guitar recitals, freezing my ass off in a church somewhere on the edge of town. I would wear a black turtleneck and sit up straight as an arrow. 

As time passed, I decided that sometimes I wanted to hunch over when I played the guitar. I wanted to hum along to the notes, play random chords until something stuck, experiment more. I was always very adventurous with the rest of my art (mainly drawing, painting, and origami at the time), so writing my own songs felt like a natural step to take. 

I began to try properly singing when I was about 12. Prior to then, my singing experience was mainly singing along to Cake and The Beatles on road trips. I was angsty and I needed an outlet, so I would sit crosslegged in my living room and belt out whatever lyrics crossed my mind.  Garageband entered the picture a couple years later, and the songs I was writing in my living room (and with my rock band, Fat Boy and The Midnight Snackie) could be immortalized on my hard drive. 

I kept writing songs throughout high school, as well as creating physical art. Drawing, painting, printmaking, origami, and sculpting have always been very important parts of my life, and my music is heavily influenced not just by other musicians, but by painters & illustrators as well. My favorites include Joan Miró, Dalí, Peter Sis, and Chris Van Allsburg. 

Near the end of highschool, I discovered Ableton, and formed a band with my close friend and collaborator Josh Mosier. I eventually explored producing on my own, and began to tinker with an EP during my freshman year of college.

I spent a lot of time during college locked away in my room, in a manic daze, determined to finish songs. I was addicted to getting better. I released songs with no intention of having them heard or being a successful musician; I just needed to get them out there. It was my form of therapy.

For my artist name, I chose DLG., the initials of my last name and the nickname that everyone in college already called me.

One song after another, and I started to get some recognition. Suddenly, the hours locked away in my room didn't seem so crazy. I realized I should take music as seriously as I always wanted to, and the rest is history. 

This song, Runnin' Back, is the first track I've finished since moving to LA from Austin a week ago. It was written, recorded, produced, and mixed by me in my living room. The artwork (as with most of my recent album artwork) was painted by my mom Joyce Rosner, an award-winning artist & designer.

From my EP 'Frontiers' about navigating big life transitions.

The Leap is about the moment after you commit to a change. There is a huge sense of relief when the decision is finalized and you’re through the resistance. It feels like a weight has been lifted. You feel free. I just wanted this song to feel joyful and light.

This was actually the very first demo we made, Max had sent me that guitar and Magnolia by Playboi Carti was huge at the time, which heavily influenced this song and gave me the idea to fully dive in fuzing the energy of rap drums and indie vibes. But it was this demo that led to me leaving LA and going to the east coast to make this album with Max. This project was my first tour and brought me to playing my first music festival (Nos Alive) in Portugal. When it ended, that was what propelled me into focusing on being a solo artist.

Wanted my first release on here to be really representative of me and bring some electronic Brazilian Funk beats to Catalog. I've decided to make another version of the track, as I was not feeling so good about releasing it on digital platforms but didn't want to leave this one here sitting on my hard drive, so I'm proudly putting this one here exclusively on Catalog and hope you enjoy it, as some close friends and I have :)

This is my genesis music NFT which is very special to me as it's a full circle moment of my NFT journey over the past year -- and it all started with this song.

Diplo, Durante, and I finished the production on "Forget About Me" in the summer of 2021 -- around the same time, I was working on developing my first NFTs that ended up being linked to this song. 

My first NFT drop was Decentraland compatible headphones that fans could use to listen to "Forget About Me" in an exclusive VIP room during my Decentraland Metaverse Festival performance in October, 2021. Inside the metaverse was the very first time this song was heard by fans, which is such an exciting idea to me. 

Shortly after this, I collaborated with the incredible FELT Zine on the Cocoa Cream Cake Puffer jacket. Flash forward a few months later, and now the cake theme ended up in the music video for this song.

When looking for the final collaborator for this record, I was not only drawn to Serwah Attafuah's style, but also her relationship with using music as a rebellion -- so I had to have her create the artwork for this song. When I got the artwork from Serwah it blew my mind. We then decided to expand on the single artwork, and created a 5 piece mini collection that became a beautiful example of what Black women in the industry can achieve. 

My genesis music NFT is the final piece of the puzzle, which marks a moment in history where my early supporters will be remembered forever.

A generative series inspired by childhood memories, play and exploration. The program can use a variety of motions, collision types, colour processes, palettes and scales to create a wide range playful output.

“Crypto ₿oy” is a wake-up call for all the chart-watchers, candle-counters, and JPEG-flippers that find a way to bring crypto into any conversation, no matter what it’s about.

We all know them — checking OpenSea like it’s instagram, obsessing over prices, hodling this, shorting that and unable to focus on anything except Discord.

As exciting as crypto is, and as likely as it is to revolutionize finance in the coming years, I want to shift our attention to a very urgent issue, which is the possibility of SCOTUS overturning Roe v Wade. This attack on reproductive rights is something we should be talking about as loudly as a crypto boy talks about NFTs*. It’s imperative that we band together and fight to protect our fundamental rights. To help bring this together I partnered with Nadya Tolokonnikova of Pussy Riot, who I love and respect, to create the custom art for this NFT.

100% of the proceeds of the sale of this NFT will be donated to The Center for Reproductive Rights (https://reproductiverights.org), a legal nonprofit that is able to accept donations in cryptocurrency.

Temporary is a song that has moved beyond what I originally intended, becoming an experiment of sorts--a song that takes limitless forms and exists in different worlds, allowing the music become a living, breathing entity, forever in flux. Temporary 001 is one of many versions of this song that you will hear. Every iteration of the production (and there are many) will push us further into new territory--working, reworking, and pressing us to be present and settled into the unknown. I hope this experiment allows you to see this song from a new angle. 






We are the Bored Brothers. A fully animated NFT-based recording artist project developed and executive produced by Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic) and KYGO. As avid NFT / Web3 enthusiasts, we conceived the idea of auditioning some of our Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) apes to form an animated, multi-genre duo based primarily in dance and hip-hop. This project stems from an overwhelming desire to curate and create music outside our respective genres. We’re flirting with everything from deep house to Miami bass and deeper dance genres like Phonk.

The Bored Brothers are musically unlike any other DJ/artist project. With the actual Bored Ape NFTs themselves as the artists -  the world we live in is unlimited, both visually and dimensionally. We live and work in the real world and in real venues as easily as the metaverse itself. There will be collaborations, there will be experimentations, and there are no rules. We care about having a good time, always bringing the party, and seeing the world while in the process. 

Our lead single, “DRIP,” helps set the wave but is just one piece of the Bored Brothers puzzle. All shall soon be revealed. 

To celebrate our first anniversary, we’re dropping a mixtape and airdropping one edition to all current Sound collectors.

The mix includes 53 songs submitted by artists in our community, which comprises just a fraction of the incredible music on Sound but represents the diverse genres and remarkable talent on Sound.

I started writing songs at a very young age, and have written hundreds of them.
Many were not great, but many others I put a lot of effort and time in and have loved them ever since.

“By the Light of The Moon” is one that I have felt so deeply ever since it was written, and have never had the chance to put out. Why, you ask?
Well... because unfortunately in the “web2” way of making music, there is always someone telling you that that songs you write will not work, because of this or that reason. That they’re not pop enough, or they’re too personal, or whatever it is.

And yet you keep writing them, because deep down those songs are the ones that make you happy and they’re literally the only way you have to truly express how you feel.
You know that at some point the day will come where you will have the opportunity to share them with the world, and someone will resonate with them. You have faith.

So that is why I kept writing songs like this one, and even if no one would have ever heard it, it would have been for me.
But since starting my web3 journey, I realized that things work differently here. You need to be authentic and honest. The more you are you, the better.
And this brings me more joy than anything else.

I decided that my Sound genesis should be one of those songs that have been sitting in my hard drive collecting dust for years. It was written 5 years ago, but it’s never left my mind or my heart. And now more than ever, I resonate with the message, so I did a brand new recording of it.

“By the Light of the Moon” is a chant of hope. Things have been hard for many of us, many times. But sometimes all it takes is one glance at the moon, and everything seems a little better.

'about you' is a very special song to us that marks a transition in our creative process, one that has been a long time in the making. earlier in our career, we had commercial success in the dance pop world, but as time went on we felt that our inspiration to make those kinds of records was fading. at the same time, we wanted to evolve our sound. although we didn’t know exactly where we wanted to go, we did feel the urge to go back to our musical roots in some way — growing up listening to rock bands and playing instruments from a very young age.

we decided to try dm’ing a few bands that we were big fans of, including Nightly, to see if it would spark anything. Nightly actually answered and sent over a batch of toplines, which included 'about you', and something clicked in our heads. we started working on the production immediately, and the song was finished in a few months, all done over the internet.

in the time that has passed since the song was finished in 2019, we have followed the rise of NFTs, and even more interestingly for us, music NFTs. as producer-heads who love gaming and learning about new tech, we've been watching closely as the space has grown so quickly. the concept first caught our eye when BossLogic, a visual artist who we were working on another project with, started doing nft drops in early 2021. we then learned about music nft’s and soon became collectors.

as awareness of nft's grew, we continued to experiment with the "new" NOTD sound that we first discovered with 'about you' and this year we are lining up to share a new chapter of music with our fans. we’d be lying if we didn’t say that for a while, we questioned our place in the music nft world. a major label changed our lives when we were 16 and 18 years old and we'll always be grateful for that opportunity, but we've also seen the ins and outs of a system that is not working for the majority of artists. to their credit though, our label gave us their blessing on this drop.

at the end of the day, we want to continue creating art that inspires us and build a community of supporters who can also now be collectors. it feels very symbolic that ‘about you’ is both the song that kickstarted our inspiration for this new chapter of music and also the song for our first nft drop.

This year was filled with lots of opportunity. But with anything good, always comes the evil. GATE was written and produced by Jadyn Violet in his bedroom studio after a long night of revaluation. 

Jadyn Violet is a music maker who started his journey 6 years ago. Growing up in New Jersey, Michael Jackson was a huge inspiration and Violet would entertain family functions dressed as Michael dancing to Billie Jean. As the years went by, he slowly developed a love for not only dance but for music. Set to accomplish great things in whatever he fully sets his mind to, Violet dropped out of business school  during his third semester navigating the underground music scene, and rose against doubters as an innovator. 

It was always a goal for Violet to “make it” off of being nice alone. The ambitions of a young man can land him in dark places if he is not careful who he shares his energy with. After experiencing a number of shocking events this year, it inspired a love hate relationship with human beings. Is it possible for someone who is truly genuine to make it in this cut throat world? Jadyn is releasing the lead single off of his upcoming EP “Good always turns evil” with the intentions of providing perspective.

my favorite song i’ve ever made.

it was an unexciting saturday morning in my south florida suburb. i’d spent the majority of my life moving around but this specific street had been around for enough years to start to feel like home. if you’d had live footage of my street at 6:00 am, you’d see a series of peaceful front lawns and one with a flurry of movement. a little guy (me) excitedly shoving every last household item into my car as i prepped myself for the 14 hour drive to nashville.

months before, i received what i had interpreted as a series of divine signs to take a chance on myself. i’d saved up some money that i hoped would sustain me for the following year. i was going to go after music full time for the first time ever.

i’d arranged to stay in a friend’s spare bedroom for cheap. my plan was to deliver food a few hours each day and work on music the rest of the time.

i promised my parents that if i didn’t make it big in a year, i’d move back home and take up my career as an airline pilot that i’d put on hold for music. i didn’t think i’d have to, i’d always believed so deeply in my ability to make shit shake. 


the next 12 months were some of the most blissful and painful months of my life.

the best moments: i made music with people i’d looked up to for years, made huge strides towards finding an audience, and found a new community in web3.

the worst moments: a lot of shame, feeling like i’d disappointed the people closest to me, spending nights paralyzed unable to figure out my next steps.

on month 11, i was processing the impending reality that despite all my progress and work i wouldn’t be able to make my 1 year deadline. 

i had to readjust.
