A 06 de janeiro, o Expresso, fundado e dirigido por Francisco Pinto Balsemão, chega pela primeira vez às bancas. Começa um novo hábito, todos os sábados, para muitos portugueses. A manchete do número 1 dá conta de uma crua realidade: quase dois terços dos portugueses nunca votaram (ou não vivesse o país em ditadura). Uma fotografia grande na capa é uma relativa novidade na imprensa da época. A tiragem foi de 65 mil exemplares; preço, cinco escudos (o equivalente, hoje, a dois cêntimos e meio). O jornal é composto por um caderno e uma revista em formato broadsheet, a preto e branco.

On January 6th, Expresso, founded by Francisco Pinto Balsemão, is launched. A new habit begins, every Saturday, for many Portuguese. The headline of Issue No. 1 reveals a hard reality: almost two thirds of the Portuguese have never voted (Portugal was under a dictatorship). A large photograph on the cover is a relative novelty in the press of the time. Circulation: 65 thousand copies; price: five escudos (equivalent today to two and a half cents (euro)). The newspaper consists of a broadsheet and a magazine in black and white.

Recently, in recognition of how we’ve built Base, an anonymous stranger gifted us base.eth. They did this as a recognition of our commitment to decentralization and open source, two values which we will continue to uphold.

We believe that onchain is the next online and that .eth better represents that ethos than .org. Therefore, from this moment forward, we are proud to rock base.eth as our primary onchain identity via ENS.
