I had this vision of an abstract looking piece with a purple sky at sunset and I decided to give it a try. So I went ahead to depict the scene in an abstract painterly style using digital painting techniques to emulate a traditional feel.

Mechanically operated, dismembered limbs and appendages are a frequent theme in my work. It is my own attempt to contemplate the nature of what drives us, or the higher power which may or may not animate us. Philosophers of old often interpreted the nature of man as mechanistic, but I sought to breathe some life and whimsy into this theory with soft pastels and fleshy textures.

- This was illustrated by hand in Adobe Illustrator, brought into a 3D environment  in layers, and then animated.

I don't know where I'm going but I know it'll be a long journey.

I have been exploring abstract portraits for a long while now as I constantly quest for my own style. Drawing inspiration from contemporary art forms, my process often involves randomness with no thought out plans. 

I seek only but to express thoughts or emotions in a way that feels right at that moment.

On a hot summer's day, the little child has a huge appetite for cool watermelon. Charity towards everyone, whether human or animal, is a quality to be praised.

A walk in the garden can sometimes help clear your mind. Getting a little bit fresh air in nature, switching off from everyday stress can work wonders.

Climate change manifests itself in different ways. One of them is the drought. In many places this is already having an impact on harvests. There is only one way. We have to change our behavior and habits. 

A detail about the work: The animal shape on which the trees grow and which represents the earth is also formed from Sicilian earth. The ground, on the other hand, is lava stone from the volcano Etna.

...as long as nothing happens between them, the memory is cursed with what hasn't happened.
