What garden do we find, what bounty at hand?

Rotten?  Vibrant?  Sparse?  Abundant?

The harvest is no mystery, stemming from what we've sown.

Regardless of whether it's at the hands of global events or on a more personal level, this year has affected millions upon millions of people around the world.

Humanitarian & environmental crisis, war, financial uncertainty, political upheaval, disease, divorce, and the list goes on.

The once dense forests are dwindling, yet before you stands an emblem of hope.

Thick with earthiness and expectation, you can feel the weight of millennia in the air surrounding you.  You know that this sanctuary, Earth, is under threat - with shrinking forests and habitats - and that something must be done to protect them.

Gazing upon the magical form before you, you feel a sense - not only of responsibility but of hope - that YOU can inspire and support change.  That we can work together, striving for a brighter future for all, and that you can play a key role...it's all possible, and You are the catalyst that makes it happen.

A significant portion of proceeds will go toward having trees planted in one or more UNESCO biosphere reserves, with an additional amount going to Accelerate Art, a non-profit supporting emerging artists in the space.  What remains will support me, my art, and my efforts to drive positive change.

It is said when one door closes, another opens. We tend to make plans and then life happens to us, leading us in another direction entirely.

This artwork was created when I made the difficult decision to sell my beloved, rickety old house and move closer to my doctors, family, and friends. It meant letting go of my dream of renovating the 140-year-old home in favour of living in a safe, secure environment that would better support both my physical and mental health.

The door in this artwork was photographed during this transition and represents the character this home had to offer. Cherished qualities left behind, along with memories from more than a decade, to move on to a new chapter and lease on life.

Fear is a natural part of the human experience. Everyone wants to feel appreciated and accepted for their imperfections - part of what makes each of us unique. This artwork represents fear of rejection and dealing with imposter syndrome as an artist. 

I bare my soul to others when I share my photographic artworks, and self doubt is always in the back of my mind. Am I good enough? Am I deserving? Will people care about my struggles, and how I've navigated my way through them? 

While finding understanding and acceptance is a desired outcome of sharing and facing our fears, we need to take the step and walk through that door, regardless of what we might find on the other side.

This artwork represents my decision not to have children, due to my genetic chronic illness. 

Many women go without having children, for many reasons and not always because it's their choice. There’s no one way that is easier than another when it comes to such a life-changing experience.

I chose not to have children, but not because I wouldn't have loved to. That idea lingers with me like a precious flower just out of reach, the choice I've made and have to live and make peace with.

This artwork was created at the start of Covid-19 restrictions here in Australia, but it also represents the isolation associated with living with a chronic illness.

Creating art has always played a critical role in helping to endure day-to-day discomfort both physically and emotionally. My experiences serve as inspiration, and my art offers me a form of therapy, a light to process the darkness I feel as I continue to battle through hardships and isolation.

Questions will always loom in the blue beyond the trees. Is there a God? Will I see my loved ones again? It is my theory that the love carries on after death and doesn't fade; instead, it lingers looking for a place to land.

I lost my mother unexpectedly in my early twenties. The sudden, shocking loss left behind an empty void within me that can never be filled. It also left an almost childlike sense of wonder about where we may go next. Do we float to a land at the top of The Faraway Tree? Do we ever rejoin those we loved and lost? I can still feel my mum more than a decade later, so it can't possibly be the end. Can it?

Everyone deals with loss in their own way. I create.

I create to cope with the ever-changing conditions I face, and to process the reality that one day I may not be able to produce art in the way I can now. 

This artwork represents the loss I face, as a result of my genetic condition. The vast unknown surrounding my eye health, threatens the future of my creative work. So far, there are no answers to the question of a cure for Mitochondrial Disease and the associated concerns. My only answer is to accept this unknown and push through it. I must see the beauty in art now, draw inspiration from my trials, and create in spite of what might someday come.

These past several years I've started to go camping. Not at caravan parks or places where other people congregate, but remote, peaceful coves by rivers with bendy trees, where dragonflies greet you by resting on your hand. 

This has opened up a new avenue for me to photograph wilder landscapes and Milky Way skies, while forgetting the everyday stresses and burdens I carry. I often feel I could sink into the landscape and become a part of it.

Frozen in place while I watch others move forward with their lives, achieving their goals and moving closer to dreams. 

This artwork was created during a period in which I felt stuck and unable to progress with my life. Treading water just to stay afloat, while others swam ahead. I had to find patience and my own definition of success to eventually overcome and progress at my own pace.

Like a waking dream slipping away the more you try to grip it, so do my memories fade. Trying to keep close, those memories and experiences that are now escaping me. Remembering who I was ten years ago, how taking a self-portrait felt easier back then.. 

I can feel changes happening in my mind and I try to hold onto those memories, but inevitably they will fade, just like the words that are harder to come by.

This piece represents taking on challenges, even when my mind tells me I'm not capable. When I'm weary in the face of discomfort, fatigue, and crippled with imposter syndrome. I will continue on. Pushing through fear and feelings of intimidation is what is necessary for self-growth and without it we become static, never progressing. So I push forward, allowing rest but getting up and continuing on, always.
